Charles A. Meurer

Still Life with Books, Jug and Tantalus, 1895

A Gentleman's Still Life, 1904

Charles A. Meurer was an American painter from 1865-1955, who specialized in still lives and trompe l'oeil. He had to have both of his legs amputated, but that didnt cease his love for painting. Tromp l'oeil is a type of painting technique to create the optical illusion that a painting is actually three dimensional, brought on by extreme detail and realistic imagery.
